2 women journalists arrested for posts about Revanath Reddy, BRS protests

Hyderabad:

Two Telangana Journalists – Pogadanda Revathi, Managing Director of Pulse News, and a reporter for the same channel, was detained on Wednesday by the Cybercrime Division of Tharabad Police, who was detained to post and promote derogatory materials allegedly against Chief Minister Reventh Reddy.

A third person – an X account user named ‘Nipukodi’ has also been detained.

Following the complaint of the head of the Congress’s state social media unit, the three were taken into custody, and faced serious allegations – from publishing pornographic materials to organized crime and criminal conspiracy, spreading rumors to instigate hatred, and violated peace.

The complaint is about a video on the X account in which a Pulse News Reporter interviews a person who allegedly comments “derogatory” and “derogatory” about the Chief Minister.

It was, it was argued, a “highly stimulant” post was formed, one has the ability to instigate violence and is a intentional attempt to defame and spread publicity by a “Pulse TV”.

Instead, the arrest provoked criticism from opposition BRS, which was in power before the Congress’s major amazing victory in 2023. Talking to NDTV, BRS’s KT Rama Rao accused the Congress of being “intolerant of criticism” and allowed “intolerance to extreme levels”.

“It seems that the Emergency situation ‘has returned to Telangana …” he announced.

In a long X post this morning, Mr. Rao claimed that Ms. Revathi was illegally arrested, in which the police raided his house at 5 am and showed the Congress “emergency rule”.

He also called Ms. Yadav’s arrest “torture” and criticized the lack of press freedom in Telangana.

“The arrest of journalists who posted a video of a farmer, who are talking about the difficulties under the Congress government, which is the culmination of the restrictive rule of this government. Is it a constitutional rule that Rahul Gandhi is talking?” Mr. Rao said on X.

Incidentally, Ms. Revathi was arrested in the same way when BRS was in power.

After minutes, the BRS leader targeted Mr. Gandhi in a separate post and threw it into a satirical jib in the Congress leader who took the red-bound copy of the Constitution during the election campaign.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Shahzad Poonwalla slammed the Congress to arrest a senior journalist for “crime” to show the frustration and plight of the farmers of Telangana.
