Teachers and other employees who lost their jobs said that they were opposing police action against their compatriot in the District Inspector (DI) of the school office in Kasba, South Kolkata on Wednesday.
One of the protesters said, “We initially started a relay Hunger strike movement with a teacher and will soon pursue further programs to oppose the issue.”
The agitating teachers have been sitting outside the SSC office building ‘Acharya Sadan’ since Wednesday night to oppose the loss of jobs and police action against their compatriot.
The protesters alleged that they were subjected to baton-charge and even were kicked by law enforcement personnel during their agitation outside the DI office in Kasba.
The Supreme Court upheld a 2024 Calcutta High Court verdict on 3 April, canceled the recruitment of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff appointed by SSC in 2016 through a recruitment drive, which calls the entire selection process “with” with and tainted “.
Those who were given unemployed claimed that the reason behind their plight was SSC’s inability to distinguish between the candidates who had got employment through fraud and those who did not.
