A three -year -old boy from Rajasthan died on Friday after falling into a garbage pit in a cafeteria near the domestic terminal of Cochin Airport.
Known as Saurabh’s son Rithan Jaju, the boy was playing in the garden outside the Anna Cafe near the airport, when he fell into a four -foot deep pit, which was left open for cleaning work.
Rithan’s family is part of a group who came on a tour of Kerala, staying in Cafeteria for lunch.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 12:50 pm when they were having food inside.
Rithan was not seen anywhere, his parents discovered the area for him and later informed the Cochin International Airport Limited (Cial) officials that after failing to detect it.
During the search, Rithan’s father saw his shoes near the garbage pit, inspiring him to search for him.
When pulled above the pit, the boy was unconscious and vomiting waste. Officials immediately administered the CPR to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
The police have started an investigation in the accident and the body of the child has been sent for the post -mortem examination.
Sial has not yet responded to the incident.
