8 men stranded for 48 hours: Team Silakara Telangana Tunnel is involved in rescue

Hyderabad:

Rescue teams are running against time to bring out eight workers trapped in a collapsed tunnel in Telangana for more than 48 hours. A state minister has warned that his possibilities of survival are tarnished as a heap of silent and the water hinders the rescue mission.

The 44-km-long tunnel behind the Srisailam dam in Nagarnul collapsed on Saturday morning when some workers were inside the leakage repair. While most of them managed to escape, eight got stuck and were out of contact from Saturday.

Four of them are laborers and four are employees of the construction company, Minister of State Krishna Rao said, who is overseeing rescue efforts.

Army, National Disaster Response Force and State Agencies are already engaged in rescue operations, while Navy commandos have also arrived to help them. Six members of the Veer team have also joined the rescue efforts behind the 2023 Silakara tunnel operation in Uttarakhand.

The collapse was at least 13 km away from the mouth of the tunnel and the rescue teams reached the final 100 meters, but the minister said that water and mute rescue operations were interrupted.

“MUCK has piled up a lot inside the tunnel that has made it impossible. The rescue teams are using rubber tubes and wooden planks to navigate. The possibility of survival is foggy, but we are hoping And did not spare any effort, “Sri said. Rao.

The rescue team has also flagged over the need for more equipment as they fight obstacles to bring out the stranded workers. Yesterday a report stated that there were cracks on the walls of the tunnel, where the water was coming out and needed to be taken out.

Another concern was that there was a noise to move the boulder that indicated the roof in the collapsed part of the tunnel, it was still unstable.

Monitoring of the situation is being monitored at central and state levels.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, whose Congress party takes power in Telangana, dialed Chief Minister Revantha Reddy yesterday to inquire about the rescue operation, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured full assistance.

Mr. Reddy’s office said that last night he is constantly reviewing the situation and taking input from senior officials. It states that he is aware of obstacles and has asked to make arrangements to drain water from inside the tunnel and provide oxygen. The Chief Minister’s Office said that the rescue teams are removing the silent and trying to find an alternative route at the fall site.
