90,000 subscribers are already enrolled since 2024 under NPS Vatsalya: DFS SECY – CNBC TV18



90,000 customers have already been nominated under the NPS Vatsalya Pension Scheme after being launched in September 2024, Magaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), said in a press briefing on Monday.

NPS Vatsalya is a pension scheme designed specifically for minors, which enables parents to invest in their children’s future. Currently, it allows parents or parents to open a pension account in the name of a child and there is no upper limit, with no upper limit. The latest tax encouragement is expected to make high participation in the scheme.

Union Budget 2025 increased tax exemption to NPS Vatsalya under Section 80CCD (1B), 12 (B), and 80CCD (3). A parent, who membership of NPS Vatsalya, can now claim a tax deduction of up to ₹ 50,000 annually. The discount on the return of more than 25% self -sufficiency under Section 12 (B) will also apply to NPS Vatsalya. Additionally, under Section 80CCD (3), the tax exemption on the receipt of accumulated funds due to the death of the NPS customer has been expanded to the scheme.

In its press briefing, Nagaraju also said that the government is reviewing and simplifying the rules to increase the limit of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the insurance sector, current 74% to 100%, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, M. Nagraju said on Monday. He said that the draft insurance bill to the cabinet “soon”.
