Job search tough in 2025: 69% Indian HRs struggle to find qualified talent – CNBC TV18



A large percentage of professionals in India are looking for a new job this year, but the search is tougher than ever, according to new research from leading global professional network LinkedIn.

More than two-thirds (69%) of Indian HR professionals feel that finding qualified talent for a role has become more challenging, indicating a necessary shift in the way professionals apply for and land jobs in 2025. Gives a signal.

According to LinkedIn, 49% of job seekers are applying to more jobs than ever before, but are getting fewer responses.

Recruiters are also finding the process more challenging. LinkedIn said more than one-quarter (27%) of HR professionals spend 3-5 hours a day reviewing applications and 55% said less than half of the job applications they receive meet all the criteria .

“The job market is tough, but this is a reminder for Indians to take a more thoughtful approach to their job search,” said Nirajita Banerjee, career expert and senior managing editor, LinkedIn India. “You still have new opportunities and meaningful career growth, even in a challenging job market.”

The research was conducted by Censuswide among 22,010 respondents between November 27 and December 16, 2024, and 8,035 global HR professionals between November 28 and December 18, 2024.

Markets include UK, US, France, Germany, India, Spain, Brazil, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, Indonesia and Italy.

Three in five (60%) professionals in India say they are ready for a role in a new industry or sector, and 39% plan to learn new skills this year to open up opportunities.

Furthermore, according to LinkedIn’s recently released Work Change Report, AI will continue to increase the value of skills as it will become relevant to every job in the future and will be incorporated into most tasks.

LinkedIn’s India Jobs on the Rise report provides insight into the fastest growing jobs over the last three years. Nearly two-thirds of the roles in this year’s jobs India list are new to the list and half of these roles did not exist 25 years ago.

Aircraft maintenance engineer, robotics technician and closing manager are the top three fastest growing jobs in India.

This year’s ranking also highlighted the rise in roles in the security-focused engineering, travel and personal services sectors as business returns to normal in many parts of India due to the pandemic.
