Adilabad:
Congress leader Kota Neelima on Sunday hit out at the BRS party and accused it of being anti-poor and anti-farmer after the party alleged that the Congress-led Telangana government was responsible for the suicide of a farmer in Adilabad.
“If any political party has thought about farmers, it is Congress, and our history proves that…BRS is anti-poor, anti-farmer, pro-rich, that’s how they work. So these days How will they understand when the Telangana government brings pro-poor policies?” Neelima told ANI.
His reaction comes at a time when BRS working president KT Rama Rao has highlighted an alleged case of farmer suicide. He tagged Rahul Gandhi in a post and blamed it on farmers not getting the promised loan waiver. Shown as ‘proof’.
Responding to the allegations, Neelima told ANI that BRS had promised schemes but did not implement any.
“A theme came up in the last ten years, that the schemes were announced only just before the elections. They told the farmers that if they did not support them (BRS) they would not get the money and the elections happened after. Our Congress government “We have come to power and in just one year we have implemented all the schemes,” Neelima said.
He further said that it is important to understand the reasons behind suicides and support the grieving families.
“Whenever a farmer commits suicide, we need to understand the reason behind it, support the grieving family and at that time the government’s promise was that the family, widows and children should be supported, we raised the issue then But it did not happen,” the Congress leader said.

“Jadav Devrao, a 50-year-old tribal farmer, heartbroken by your (Congress’s) failed promises and fed up with financial struggles, decided that ending his life was the only option available to him. He consumed poison in the bank and committed suicide due to his illness. Left a wife, a kidney patient and a son…all because of your failed promises,” KTR’s post read.
Posting a video of the alleged incident, the BRS chief said it is ‘proof’ of the Congress-led government not promising the farm loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh.
“This video is proof of what we have been saying – 40 per cent of farmers did not even get the farm loan of Rs 2 lakh promised by you. And your Rythu Trust is a big farce! Your government has shamelessly given Rs 15,000 per Have taken a U-turn from the promise of acres,” his post added.
