Schools closed in UP, Delhi, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir due to cold wave conditions – CNBC TV18



Amid severe cold wave conditions, winter holidays of schools have been extended in many cities of North India.

Many areas, from Rajasthan and Haryana to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, have been facing extreme weather conditions in the last few weeks. Therefore, authorities have extended winter vacations or announced school closures to ensure the safety of students.

Here is the complete list of school closures in various states and cities:

Delhi

Schools across the national capital have been closed for 15 days from January 1-15, with January 16 being announced as the tentative date for reopening.

Haryana

The state government had earlier announced that all schools in Haryana will remain closed from January 1 to January 15. They are scheduled to reopen on January 16.

Punjab

Winter vacation for all schools including government and private institutions in Punjab has been extended till January 7.

Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir administration started winter vacation for classes up to class 5 on December 10, while winter vacation for class 6-12 students started from December 16. Schools are now scheduled to reopen on February 28.

Rajasthan

Earlier, all schools in Rajasthan were closed till January 5. However, many districts in the state have now extended the winter holidays by a few more days.

Jharkhand

The state government said all private and government schools from kindergarten to class 8 will remain closed from January 7 to January 13.

Bihar

Patna district administration has ordered all schools up to class eight to remain closed till January 11.

Uttar Pradesh

Noida: As per the latest order, schools in Noida recognized by all boards (CBSE/ICSE/IB, UP Board and others) have been closed till further notice due to ‘dense fog and extreme cold’. This order applies to classes from nursery to 8th class.

Lucknow: In Lucknow, schools up to class 8 have been closed till January 11, while online classes have been announced for classes 9 to 12.

Agra and Mathura: Schools for classes 1 to 8 will remain closed till January 14.

Ghaziabad: As per the order of the District Magistrate, schools for classes 1 to 8 will remain closed till January 11.
