With significant improvements in transportation technology, access to fresh food has increased significantly. However, along with this progress have also come growing concerns about food wastage during transportation and storage. Globally, approximately 17% of food is wasted at the retail and consumer level, resulting in issues such as groundwater pollution, hazardous gas emissions, and the spread of infectious pathogens, which contribute to environmental pollution.
