The government has informed that an indigenously developed system to identify and block international fake calls showing Indian mobile numbers has reduced such calls by about 4 lakhs per day.
In addition, the government asked Indian telecom companies to launch a campaign against foreign carriers or aggregators who are handing over fake international calls, and they have blocked more than 20 such carriers so far.
The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has recently launched an indigenously developed International Income Spoken Call Prevention System in collaboration with all telecom service providers (TSPs).

To compete this, Dot has asked telecom service providers to display “international calls” on all calls coming from outside India.
This helps the citizen to understand that since the upcoming call is an “international call”, it cannot be done by organizations like DOT, TRAI, Police, RBI, Customs, UIDAI etc.
According to the Ministry of Communications, one of the major service providers has already implemented it in its network and others are in the process of doing so.
To deal with the threat of international fake calls reaching Indian citizens, the Department of Telecommunications has asked the Telecom Service Providers (TSP) to stop traffic from international carriers who are sending fake CLI call traffic in India repeatedly in India. .
Providers like Airtel and BSNL have blocked more than 20 such carriers/aggregators who were giving fake international calls.
