Search for rare new fossil shed light on reptiles like New Zealand’s extinct dolphin

Ichthyosaurs were reptiles who floated in the sea during the dinosaurs. They developed separately about 250 million years ago, possibly from ancestors such as a crocodile, to meet fish and modern dolphins.
