Foreign Ministry official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday that all Indians of the Democratic Republic of Congo are safe amidst the ongoing struggle.
Addressing a press briefing, Mr. Jaiswal said that the Indian embassy in Kinshasa is in constant touch with the Indians there.
“In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we saw that there is a struggle going on in some parts of some cities. About twenty -five thousand Indian citizens live in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Where the fight was going on for two days, I think the fight is stopping there. Goma city had 1,000 Indian citizens, mostly left out of them. Our embassy has issued helpline numbers with many advice so that if anyone has to face any problem, contact them immediately and us.
The embassy in Kinshasa is far from Goma city, about 2,500 km away. The embassy is in constant contact with the community. All our citizens are safe and our embassies are in constant touch with our community, “he said.
The Indian Embassy on Thursday issued an advice for Indians at Bukevu, South Kivu and DRC.
