In Northeast Australia on Monday, many people forced them to escape in fast -moving flood waters, to take out the houses, and remove a part of an important bridge.
Officials said the storms have exceeded one meter (39 inches) of rain in some parts of Queensland in two days, surrounded houses, businesses and roads in Muddy water.
Aerial footage showed rural communities surrounded by flood waters, which was cut from nearby roads.
State chief David Chrisfully warned at a news conference, “We are going to see widespread rains and storms spread in northern Queensland.”
“We are ready for the possibility of excess rainfall and the possibility of excess floods, both flash floods and river floods,” he said.
Emergency services performed 11 “Swift Water Water” overnight, the premiere said.
He said that the flood-Hit-Hit Townsville area, a popular coastal tourist destination located near the Great Barrier Reef, was declared “Black Zone”.
“At this time, our advice to the residents of Black Zone is to stay out of that area and be safe.”
Officials of emergency services said that the authorities asked 2,100 people in the city to vacate over the weekend, although about 10 percent refused.
‘Bridge burst’
Police said a woman was killed on Sunday in the 60s when the rescue boat she was flipping into the rural city of Ingam, about 100 kilometers (60 mi) from Townsville.
His body was later recovered.
The main coastal road of the state, cutting the Bruce Highway, flooded a part of a concrete bridge over a creek.
“It’s not every day that you see a bridge torn in two. That is why Olera is in Creek, and it is important,” Chrisfulli said.
About 11,000 properties remained without electricity in North Queensland, Argon Energy said, no time limit will be given to restore electricity.
The National Meteorological Agency said that heavy rains are expected to continue for 24 hours – to get 300 mm (12 in) with some places and begins to reduce it.
Towns 8 acting Mayor N-Mari Greeny said that the flood was expected to be at its peak on Tuesday morning.
“Roads are cut at this time, so communities are isolated,” he told AFP.
Crocodile
The Mayor said that power was pressurized to work with a large supermarket chain to restore the city and give food.
People can expect the crocodiles to see in search of calm water, the environment department warned later this week.
A farmer told the National Broadcaster ABC that he saw the “bunch of crocodiles” around his rural property – 140 km (87 mi) south of Cairns.
As the global temperature rises due to climate change, scientists have warned that heat waves and other extreme weather events will become more frequent and more intense.
Queensland is the most disaster prone state in Australia, which experiences major floods in 2019, 2022 and 2023, research from non-profit climate council shows.
