Mumbai:
The Maharashtra government on Monday made it mandatory for all officers to talk in Marathi in the government and semi-government offices in the state on Monday.
The Government Resolution (GR) issued for this effect also said that speaking Marathi is mandatory in local self-government, government corporations and government aided establishments.
Wrong officials will face disciplinary action, GR warned.
Last year, the Marathi Language Policy, approved, recommended the use of Marathi in all public affairs to carry forward the steps taken for protection, protection, promotion, dissemination and development of language.
GR also said that all offices should have PC (Personal Computer) keyboard in addition to Roman letters, Marathi Devanagari letters.
