A viral video of a child requesting biryani and chicken fry in Anganwadi is likely to change the menu in such childcare centers in Kerala.
State Health Minister, Women and Child Welfare, Veena George shared a video of a child named Shanku on Monday, making such a request on his Facebook page and said that the menu of Anganwadi would be revised.
He said that the child requested innocently, and it is being taken into consideration.
Sending hot relations to Shanku, his mother and Anganwadi employees, the minister said, “The menu will be reviewed, taking into account the suggestion of the Shanku.” George said that various types of foods are provided through Anganwadis to ensure nutritional food for children.
“Under this government, a plan to provide eggs and milk through Anganwadis has been successfully implemented. In coordination with women and child development department, local bodies provided various types of foods in Anganwadis,” Ms. George Said.
In the viral video, children, wearing a hat, were heard innocently asking his mother, “I was ‘Biranani’ (Biryani) and ‘Porcha Kozy’ (Chicken Fry) in Anganwadi instead of Upma.” His mother said that when he requested to eat biryani at home, he filmed the video, then posted it on Instagram, where it went viral.
He told a news channel, “After watching the video, we received calls from some people who offered Biryani and Chicken Fry to cones,” he told a news channel.
NeTizance also supported the child’s request, some suggested that the government should reduce food provided to the culprits in jails and provide better food to children through Anganwadis.
