There are phase viruses that inject their DNA and attack bacteria, then engrave bacterial machinery to breed. Eventually, they make so many copies of themselves that bacteria burst. Looking at this process in a unique type of virus, called Jumbo Phase, scientists hope to learn to create new antibiotics that can address the growing crisis of resistance.
