Meta to start pruning globally from next week: Report

New York:

Facebook owner Meta platform, proceeding with early hiring of machine learning engineers, planned to pursue its expected company-wide layoffs next week, informing the employees in the internal memo viewed by Reuters on Friday.

According to the posts written by Gayle, the leading Meta prominent people, most of the countries in the US will go out notices for employees who lost their jobs starting at 5 am on Monday at 5 am on Monday.

Employees in Germany, France, Italy and Netherlands will be exempted from “deductions” cuts, while more than a dozen other countries in Europe, Asia and Africa will receive their information between February 11 and 18 in other countries.

A Meta spokesperson refused to comment on the positions.

The company confirmed last month that it was planning to trim around 5% of its “lowest artists” and was backfilling at least some positions. Friday’s memorandum, in which Gayle referred to Cuts as a “performance end”, was first reported by information.

Gayle said in his post that unlike the previous company-wide trimming, Meta was planning to keep his offices open on Monday and would not release any updates.

A separate memo, also posted by VP of Engineering for Mudrikaran Peng Fan on Friday, asked employees to assist in a sharp recruitment process for machine learning engineers and other “business critical” engineering roles.

The process will be held between 11 February and 13 March, the fan said in that post.

“Thanks to your constant support for helping us achieve our quick recruitment goals, and better align with our company’s preferences for 2025.”
