New Delhi:
A close competition between BJP and AAP was seen in six constituencies of Northeast Delhi, affected by the 2020 riots, both sides won three seats in each.
In Seilampur, Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed of AAP defeated BJP’s Anil Kumar Sharma by a margin of 42,477 votes. Ahmed got 59.21 percent vote poll, while Sharma got 27.38 percent vote share.
While Abdul Rahman of the Congress, who was an MLA sitting from the seat, was replaced by the AAP after the ticket was denied, only 12.4 percent of the votes were received.
Apart from Seilampur, AAP was victorious in Babarpur and Gokalpur, while the BJP won Mustafabad, Karawal Nagar and Ghonda.
In the Delhi government, AAP Delhi convenor and minister Gopal Rai maintained his Babarpur seat by a margin of 18,994 votes. He got 53.19 percent of the vote share, while his rival, BJP’s Anil Kumar Vashisht got 39.33 percent votes voted on the seat.
Congress Mohammad Ishrak Khan came third with only 8,797 votes.
AAP also won the seat of Gokalpur, where party candidate Surendra Kumar defeated BJP’s Praveen Nimesh by 8,207 votes.
BJP’s Ajay Mahawar won the Ghonda seat by a margin of 26,058 votes. His vote share was 56.96 percent. His rival AAP’s Gaurav Sharma shared 38.41 percent vote.
Karawal Nagar was won by BJP’s Kapil Mishra. He defeated Manoj Kumar Tyagi of AAP by 23,355 votes. The vote share of BJP and AAP in the constituency was 53.39 percent and 41.78 percent respectively.
In this seat, Congress got only 1.95 percent votes.
Mustafabad Mohan Singh Bisht’s BJP candidate won by a margin of 17,578 votes. AAP’s Adeel Ahmad Khan was second with 67,637 votes, while AIMIM’s Mohammad Tahir Hussain was third with 33,474 votes.
