BJP’s Rekha Gupta was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi with his six cabinet colleagues today. Ms. Gupta, Shalimar Bagh’s first MLA, was sworn in at a grand ceremony at the prestigious Ramlila Maidan, 11 days later her party returned to power in the national capital after more than 26 years.

According to Rekha Gupta’s affidavit presented to the Election Commission (EC) before the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, he declared his total income of Rs 6,92,050 in the financial year 2023-24.
His movable property was priced at Rs 1.25 crore, he said in the affidavit filed on January 15. He also had immovable property worth Rs 2.3 crore.
The 50 -year -old politician has a loan of Rs 48.44 lakh.
Her affidavit revealed that she owns two residential qualities, one of which is co-owned by her husband Manish Gupta.
He has no vehicle and has jewelery worth Rs 18 lakh.
Mr. Gupta’s income in the financial year 2023-2024 was Rs 97,33,570. His movable assets are Rs 1.14 crore and the price of immovable property is Rs 30 lakh.
Rekha Gupta: Delhi’s fourth woman Chief Minister
Former Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) president Rekha Gupta, BJP’s Sushma Swaraj, Congress’ Sheila Dixit and Aam Aadmi Party have become the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
He defeated AAP candidate Bandana Kumari by more than 29,000 votes from Shalimar Bagh seat in the 5 February assembly elections. In particular, Ms. Gupta elected Shalimar Bagh seat in both 2015 and 2020 Delhi elections, but both lost to AAP’s Bandana Kumari in the years.
Born on July 19, 1974 in Nandgarh village in Jind district of Haryana, Ms. Gupta’s father served as a bank officer. In 1976, his family moved to neighboring Delhi.
As a student at Delhi University, she joined Akhil Bharati Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who is a student wing of Rashtrapatiya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
His active participation in student politics elected as the President of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) for the 1996–1997 term. He also worked as the secretary of Dial Singh College and was deeply engaged in student activism, which carried him forward in public life.
His political career with the BJP began in the early 2000s. She joined the party’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morch (BJYM), and played the role of a secretary in the Delhi unit.
He was then appointed the National Secretary of BJYM from 2004 to 2006.
In 2007, he was elected as a councilor in the MCD elections, who represented the North Pitpura constituency.
She went to serve as the chairman of the Women’s Welfare and Child Development Committee in MCD from 2007 to 2009.
