Bureaucrat, his family found dead in Kerala’s house, police suspected suicide

Hyderabad:

Officials said on Thursday that an additional commissioner of Central Excise and GST, his mother and sister were found dead at their residence in Kerala, in which the police suspected the case of suicide. The incident came to light when the bureaucrat, Manish Vijay’s colleague went to his house on concern that he did not return to work after a four -day holiday.

As soon as the victim’s colleague arrived at the residence of the officer, he got a strong smell and immediately alerted the police.

While Manish and his sister, Shalini were found hanging in separate rooms, their mother, Shakanthala, were found dead on the bed. Police found that the old woman was wrapped in a white cloth, in which the flower was kept with her. This has raised suspicion that the mother must have died or was killed earlier, and then the brothers died of suicide.

Kochi Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya told NDTV that the bodies were for a few days and started decaying. “Only after a forensic examination, we can be able to say when they died.”

Police also found a diary in a room with a note, allegedly stated that his brother -in -law, a sister living abroad should be informed about his death.

Originally, the family of Jharkhand lived in Kaknad Customs Quarter in Ernakulam district of Kerala.

Manish had worked in customs preventive at Kociqode Airport before transferring to Kochi a year and a half ago. His mother and sister went with him a few months ago. According to the police, Shalini was dealing with a legal case in Jharkhand – for which Manish took leave from work.

The reports stated that Shalini was ranked first in the 2006 Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and was appointed as deputy collector. However, his rank was later challenged and canceled, which led to his dismissal. In 2024, a CBI investigation in the case resulted in a charge sheet and testing proceedings.

The post-mortem on the bodies will begin after their third siblings arrive from abroad. Police said that the case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is going on. He said that the post -mortem of three bodies will be done once his sister reaches India.
