Vasundhara Oswal, daughter of Indian -origin billionaire Pankaj Oswal, was jailed for kidnapping and murder of her father’s former employee in Uganda, which was later found to be alive, claimed that for more than three weeks behind the bars. The event was a gross violation of human rights.

Vasundhara (26) was falsely accused of kidnapping and murder of Mukesh Menaria, former employee of her father Pankaj Oswal last year. He was later found to be alive in Tanzania.

Talking to PTI on Friday, Vasundhara said, “I was detained for five days and thrown into jail for one and two weeks. My human rights were severely violated. Did not take me and deprive me of food and water. At one point, he was not allowed to use the washroom as any punishment.

Vasundhara was arrested on 1 October 2024 and was granted bail on 21 October.

He claimed that the police searched his premises without any warrant.

“When I asked him to present a search warrant, he said, ‘We are in Uganda, we can do anything, you are no longer in Europe’. Forced the director.

Vasundhara claimed that she was forced to make a statement without a criminal lawyer.

“We had a civilian lawyer because they did not give us time, as he said that if I did not make a statement, I would be held indefinitely,” he said.

Vasundhara was detained in a cell when he made a statement and was asked to pay a 30,000 USD and to present his passport for police bonds.

However, he claimed that despite submitting the necessary documents, he did not get the police bonds and was thrown back into the cell.

Vasundhara further alleged that even after producing the order of unconditional release from the courts, she was illegally detained for 72 hours.

Vasundhara was later informed that he was being accused of kidnapping and attempt to murder and was taken to a lower level magistrate court instead of the High Court.

He said that he was placed in a jail for the persons arrested for small crimes and later a facility residence was transferred to convict killers and human smugglers.

“I spent the next two weeks in Nakasongola jail. And even when they found that the man (Menaria) was alive, they proceeded to keep me in jail on those allegations. They they one or two weeks on 10 October First found, before I met. “He said.

Vasundhara succeeded in getting bail on 21 October, after efforts to vandalize her application, and her passport was returned on 10 December.

He claimed that the Uganda police had accused him, although Menaria was found alive and later reduced the charge for misbehavior after taking money from his family.

“This was originally done to place something on our head and withdraw more money because the biggest mistake of the Uganda police was that they did not investigate the matter properly,” he said.

Vasundhara said that she wants the Uganda government to fix its mistakes.

“I think other governments have already corrected their mistakes, and they have used the law correctly, not in a manipulative manner, to get what they want. Therefore, it is, It is more that he can fix his mistakes towards one to fix his mistakes.

The case against Vasundhara was rejected on December 19, 2024.

Vasundhara said that she is currently reviewing all possible legal measures that she went to jail.
