During his virtual address, PM Modi said, “Investing in people, economy and innovation is a subject that defines roadmap for a developed India. You can see its effect on a large scale in this year’s budget.”
He emphasized that the government has given equal priority to infrastructure and industries as well as human capital. He said, “Capacity building and talent nurture the foundation stone for the progress of the country. Therefore, in the next stage of development, we need to invest more in both these areas,” he said.
Speaking on investment in people, PM Modi underlined three major pillars: education, skill development and healthcare. He pointed to important initiatives such as National Education Policy, expansion of IITs, integration of artificial intelligence in education, digitization of textbooks, and creating available study materials in 22 Indian languages.
Since 2014, more than three crore youths have received skill training, the Prime Minister said that the government plans to upgrade 1,000 ITI institutions and set up five centers of excellence. “Our aim is that the training of the youth should be such that they can meet the needs of our industry … To provide new opportunities and practical skills to the youth, we have launched the PM internship scheme. We should ensure that every scale business is actively participating in this scheme.”
Discussing healthcare, the Prime Minister pointed out an increase in investment in medical education and digital infrastructure. “In this year’s budget, we announced 10,000 additional medical seats with the target of adding 75,000 seats in the medical field over the next five years.
Telemedical facility is being expanded in primary health centers. Through the Day-Care Cancer Center and Digital Healthcare Infrastructure, we want to get quality healthcare up to the previous miles, “he said.
