BJP Rajya Sabha MP Lehar Singh Siroya has alleged that Waqf land has been misused, manipulated by influential people and those in power in Karnataka. At a press conference on Saturday, Mr. Siroya mentioned a 40,000-page document, stating that “how it appears to the minority community, has been cheated by those who trust them to keep them safe.”
He told reporters on Saturday, “These documents that you are watching here lasts for about 40,000 pages. They are from every district of Karnataka, and are filed by the sub -aperties themselves. So nothing can be more authentic and more accurate,” he sat behind a desk on Saturday, on which the documents were stacked.
The report between his comments stated that the Karnataka government plans to pass a resolution in the Legislative Assembly against the Central Government’s Waqf Act.
He said that in 2012, Karnataka UPA was sent to the inquiry commission established by the Government of Karnataka under Lokayukta Justice N Anand, “Unfortunately in 2016, a very strange fate was found under the Congress rule.”
The documents obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) process are the seal of Karnataka Lokayukta.
“I do not have time to study these documents that came tomorrow, which came in detail, but even a cursory eye tells us how WAQF land has been misused, misused, manipulating and incorrectly done by those who are in power, and who are influential in every district of Karnataka,” said Shri Siroya.
“These documents tell us how the interests of the minority community have been fully compromised in the last few decades. It seems that the minority community has been cheated by those who believe them to keep them safe. I do not wish to take a name and create a sensation because it is not my interest. I am not only a minority community because I want justice to a minority community because I want a minority community.”
He said that the Congress wants to show the Waqf law of the Central Government as “violation of federal theory”.
“But I think the Congress party is hiding behind the federal principle to save some of its powerful colleagues and friends. The resolution will only expose them.
“The report, which I have got a chance to see, is neither on the government’s record nor in the public domain. It is made to deliberately disappear. I can tell you that the report is very inspired. It does not include those in politics and civil society who constantly try to represent the cause of Muslim minorities.

“This is actually a case of cheating on them. The report on one point says: ‘Muthavalis/Sajjda/Managing Committee is mainly responsible for the loss of Waqf properties, misuse of vaqf properties for their craze and fans and for their personal benefits … Pure results are once wakf which is a Waqf’ ”
“One last point. I know a file related to Gulbarga Waqf Properties, which went to a minister in the first term of Mr. Siddaramaiah, is still not returned to the department. I hope that the file has been detected and returned to the department as soon as possible. I hope it has not been destroyed,” said Mr. Siroya.
