Sitapur:
Police said that a regional reporter for a Hindi was shot by bike-related attackers on Sitapur-Delhi National Highway here on Saturday.
The attack took place on the overbridge near Hempur railway crossing, inside the Imia Sultanpur police station area.
According to the police, the attackers set Raghavendra Bajpai (35) on fire, while he was coming on his motorcycle.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sitapur, Praveen Ranjan Singh said, “Three bullets hit him in the shoulder and chest. The attackers then ran the scene on his motorcycle.”
With the help of local residents, the police took Bajpai to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Bajpai’s family told media outlets that he was threatened with phone calls in recent times.
ASP Singh said, “Evidence collection has started and district boundaries have been sealed to catch criminals. Call details and other legal proceedings are going on.”
He said that the body has been sent for the post -mortem examination.
