The US Department of Justice on Friday proposed to force the alphabet’s Google to promote competition in online discovery, forcing Google of the alphabet to sell its investment in artificial intelligence companies, including Openai competitive anthropic.
According to court letters filed in Washington, the DOJ and 38 State Attorney General’s DOJ and alliance still have sought an order of a court, with other measures to go to Google to sell their chrome browser and address other measures, which was the illegal discovery monopoly of Google.
Prosecutors wrote, “American Dream is only about high values ââthan cheap goods and ‘free’ online services. These values ââinclude freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of innovation, and freedom to compete in the market with controlled hand of a monopoly.”
A Google spokesperson said that “comprehensive proposals go beyond the court’s decision, and will damage the consumers, economy and national security of the US.”
An anthropic spokesperson did not immediately respond to the remarks request.
President Donald Trump has said that he would continue a rift on Big Tech, which began during his first term and continued in the administration of former President Joe Biden. Trump has exploited experienced Antitance Attorney Gayle Slater to lead DOJ’s efforts.
Google holds billions of dollars of minority stake in anthropic. Losing investment would have a competitive advantage to Openai and his partner Microsoft, written to the court in February.
The evidence prosecutors received since recommending their draft in November showed a risk that AI investment banned Google “could have unexpected results in AI Space,” he said in the final proposal on Friday. He asked that Google needs to give prior notice to the government about future investment in generative AI.

The blockbuster case is one of many American mistrust cases against large technical companies. Apple, meta platforms and Amazon.com also face allegations of maintaining illegal monopoly in their respective markets.
Since Trump’s renovation, Google has demanded to make the case that the DOJ’s approach in the case will promote the company’s competing in the company’s AI and “America’s ability to endanger the global economic and technical leadership”.
Many measures of the proposed prosecution in November remain intact with some twicex.
For example, a requirement that shares Google with the search querry data now says that Google can take a marginal fee for access and contestants should not have national security risk.
The proposal attracted the statements of Democratic and Republican Attorney General as well as the alphabetical labor union-CWA.
