Many biologically important molecules change when stimulated by UV radiation. Although this property can also be found in some drugs, it is not yet well understood. Using an innovative technique, an international team involving researchers from Goethe University Frankfurt, European XFEL at Shenfeld and Dutshen Electronon-Cinecrotron Desi in Hamburg clarified this ultra-fast process, and X-ray appeared in slow with the help of light. The method opens exciting new ways to analyze many other molecules.
