The share of vehicle supply through railways increased from 5 percent in 2014-15 to 21.5 percent in the financial year 2023-24. The country’s leading auto manufacturing company had supplied 65,700 units through Railways in 2014-15, which increased to 4,47,750 units in 2023-24.
Plan to send 35% of total vehicle production through railways in 7-8 years
Takeuchi said, âBy the financial year 2030-31, our production capacity will almost double from 20 lakh units to 40 lakh units. We are planning to supply about 35 percent of the vehicles from Railways in the next 7 to 8 years.

Maruti Suzuki has so far sent more than 20 lakh vehicles through Indian Railways. It delivers vehicles to 20 places in more than 450 cities through railways.
