Uksana Halak found out that her two-year-old son Dmytro was suffering from a type of cancer in early June. She immediately decided to have her son treated at Okhmadyat hospital because ”it is one of the best hospitals in Europe.” She and Dmytro were at the hospital when sirens sounded across the city. After the first explosions the nurse helped him to another room. He was then taken to the National Cancer Institute and now Dmytro is one of 31 patients who will have to be treated in a new hospital amid a difficult battle with cancer.
