Total domestic wholesales of passenger vehicles (PV) (dispatched to dealerships) increased by three per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 3,37,757 units in June as against 3,27,788 units in the same month last year. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said on Friday.

SIAM said in its monthly sales report that total three-wheeler sales increased by 12.3 percent to 59,544 units during the month from 53,025 units in the same month last year.
Total two-wheeler domestic sales also increased by 21.3 percent to 16,14,154 units last month compared to 13,30,826 units in June 2023. While scooter sales increased by 40 percent year-on-year to 5,42,851 units (as against 3). 87,373 units in June 2023), motorcycle sales during the month grew 13.4 per cent year-on-year to 10,30,906 units (as against 9,08,954 units).
Total sales across categories increased by 17.5 per cent to 20,11,455 units during the month, compared to 17,11,639 units in the same month last year.
On a quarterly basis, total PV domestic sales increased three per cent year-on-year to 10,26,006 units, compared to 9,96,565 units in the April-June period last year.
Total two-wheeler sales increased by 20.4 percent to 49,85,631 units during the first quarter this year, compared to 41,40,964 units in the same period last year.

Similarly, total three-wheeler sales increased by 14.2 per cent to 1,65,081 units during the quarter as against 1,44,530 units in the first quarter last year.
Domestic total sales of commercial vehicles (CVs) also increased by 3.5 per cent to 2,24,209 units in Q1 this year, compared to 2,16,550 units in the same period last year.
SIAM’s report indicated that total sales of all vehicles across categories increased by 16.4 per cent to 64,01,006 units in the April-June quarter as against 54,98,752 units in the same quarter last year.
âAll segments such as passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles (CVs), three-wheelers and two-wheelers registered growth in Q1 2024-25 compared to Q1 last year. While PVs and CVs have seen moderate growth, two-wheelers and three-wheelers have registered very good growth in double digits,â said Vinod Aggarwal, Chairman, SIAM.
He said that among two-wheelers, scooters have registered even higher growth based on some positive aspects of improvement in entry-level two-wheelers.
“With the positive outlook on monsoon and the upcoming festive season, the automotive sector is set to perform better in the remaining part of the year,” Agarwal said.
