AAP protests against Delhi government

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers protested against the BJP’s promise of giving free LPG cylinders to women during Holi on Wednesday. Later, he was detained by the police.

Talking to ANI, after taking into custody, AAP leader Rituraj Jha said, “Freedom of expression is the right of people. We are just asking, when we will get free cylinders, Modi ji? You promised.”

Earlier today, the opposition’s Delhi assembly leader Atishi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and failed to fulfill their promises to the women of Delhi, including assistance of Rs 2,500 and free LPG cylinders.

In its party manifesto for the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP promised to provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 for women in Delhi under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. Leader of the Opposition, Atishi, has also distracted the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vijendra Gupta, stating that the opposition MLA should be allotted time to speak in the House according to his number. Earlier, on 8 March, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the BJP -led government in the national capital will fulfill all its promises. Addressing an event on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Delhi CM said it would work for the welfare and security of women.

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gopal Rai has slammed the BJP government in Delhi, alleging that it is accused of indulging in a “defect game”.

Speaking to ANI, Rai said, “Comptroller and Auditor General Report is presented in the assembly, after which it is sent to the PAC for analysis. The BJP does not want to table CAG report; they want to play the blame game even after forming a government. They can avoid working at once, but they are working one by one.”
