It allows both existing American Express cardholders (referred to as “MGmer”) and new applicants (referred to as “MGmei”) to earn additional Membership Rewards points, the company said in a statement.
To participate, MGmer asks a friend to apply for a new American Express card. If the friend, or MGMee, is approved and spends âı5,000 within the first 90 days, both the MGMer and MGMee will receive bonus points, as stated in the promotion.

The company said the offer is a part of American Express’ ongoing initiative to reward cardholders for expanding their cardholder base while allowing new applicants to enjoy the benefits of the American Express network.
