The 69 million -year -old skull found in Antarctica has been identified as a relative of Geez and Duck, making it the oldest known modern bird.

It belongs to a species that was first identified two decades ago Vegavis Iyi, Which lived with the previous dinosaurs in the late Creteseous period. But because only the skull pieces were found only, scientists could not agree what kind of bird it was or whether it was a bird like a bird.

Fossil skulls were discovered in 2011 on Vega Island, away from the Antarctic Peninsula. However, it was so difficult in the rock that excavators had to spend hundreds of hours on the surrounding stone before scanning their internal details.

Patrick O’Coner At the University of Ohio, who worked on analysis, says that almost the two characteristics of the entire skull are only in modern birds. First, the upper beak consists of mainly a bone called premaxilla, while a second bone, maxilla, is very low in size and contributes to only a small part of the bony palate.

Second, in modern birds, the precursor is largely largely relative to the rest of the brain; East-modern birds and close bird dinosaurs VelosirapterThese areas are proportionally very small.

Whereas Vegavis O’Coner says that it clearly marks it as a group of Jalapakshi being in the same group, which is in the form of ducks and gizs, it looked very different. The shape of the bird’s beak, the jaw musculatory and the Hind organs suggest that it was highly specialized for diving in the search of fish.

“It would probably be easily wrong for modern green or loots, which are only related to ducks and each other,” they say.

Jacqueline Guayen The Australian Museum in Sydney states that the ancient species have been subject to a lot of debate among Avian evolutionary scientists, but help in settling new research arguments.

“Together, (proof) suggests that Vegavis She could be a ‘evolutionary experiment’ in the early history of this group of birds, and she says, “she says.
