Android’s Identity Check Feature Coming to Eligible Samsung, Pixel Phones



Google is introducing Android Identity check features in many smartphones. Initially it has been confirmed to roll out for selected Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones. It will later be released for the handsets of other competitive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) running on Android operating systems. Mountain view-based technical giants are expanding their theft security facility to a more qualified handset. The facility was first unveiled in October 2025. These safety equipment is said to protect individual smartphones and data from theft.

According to Google’s blog PostAndroid’s latest Identity check feature is being released for Samsung Galaxy devices for the Pixel smartphone running on Android 15 and the Android 15-based One UI 7. Currently, the only Samsung phone running on One UI 7 is a recently launched Galaxy S25 series smartphones. , It includes the base Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Meanwhile, Google Pixel devices running on Android 15 include Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series as well as Pixel fold handsets. Google confirmed that the feature would eventually be expanded to other models including phones of competitive brands.

Google explains that when users are out of their specified reliable places, identification testing facility increases device safety with biometric authentication requirements to reach important accounts and device settings. It is said that it provides additional protection for Google and Samsung accounts on qualified equipment. This feature allows users to determine a reliable location to reduce frequent authentication needs. Even though the device PIN is tampered with, unauthorized access is expected from this facility.

The blog post states that theft detection lock feature has now been fully deployed worldwide on Android 10 and new devices. This feature uses on-device AI to detect potential theft efforts, such as when a device is forcibly taken when unlocked. The screen is automatically locked if suspicious activity is identified to prevent unauthorized access.
