Amavasya Tithi falls once in every month. On this day, offerings are also made for the peace of the ancestors’ souls. Bathing in holy rivers on Amavasya Tithi has special significance. After bathing in the river, offerings to the ancestors are made by offering Arghya to the Sun. Amavasya has great importance in Hindu religion. Amavasya date is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this day Lord Vishnu is worshiped with rituals. According to religious beliefs, women keep a fast on the day of Amavasya to pray for the long life of their husbands. This year Ashadh Amavasya is on 18th June.

Method of worship:
Wake up early in the morning and take bath. Taking bath in the holy river or lake on this day has great importance. You can also take bath at home by mixing Ganga water in bathing water.
After taking bath, light the lamp in the temple of the house.
Offer Arghya to Sun God.
If you can keep fast then keep fast on this day also.
Work related to ancestors should be done on this day.
Make offerings and donations for the ancestors.
Meditate on God as much as possible on this holy day.
Worship of Lord Vishnu has special significance on this holy day.
