Basant Panchami Story: Basant Panchami has special significance in Hindu religion. Mother Saraswati is also considered the mother of music and art. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Mother Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. According to mythological beliefs, along with worshiping Mother Saraswati, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu are also worshiped on the day of Basant Panchami. Mother Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. It is considered auspicious to start education in the Abujh Muhurat of Basant Panchami. Therefore, Vidyarambh Sanskar is also performed on this day. He is worshiped before starting music or art studies.
Basant Panchami, the incarnation day of Vagdevi Sharda, Veena Vadini Maa Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom, knowledge, learning, art and music, will be celebrated on 14th February i.e. tomorrow Wednesday. After the end of winter season, there will be celebration of auspicious yoga festival of Revati Nakshatra on Panchami of spring season. This year Mother Saraswati is coming on the boat. Revati Nakshatra is auspicious for work accomplishment, prosperity and success and Lakshmi Prada auspicious benefits and Ravi Yoga will give auspicious results.
How did Vagdevi, the mother of knowledge, music and art, appear?
According to mythological beliefs, Brahma created the universe but he was troubled that his creation was silent and like a dead body, because there was no sound and music in the universe. Brahma went to Vishnu and told him the problem. Vishnu suggested that Goddess Saraswati would help and give a solution. Goddess Saraswati appeared on Basant Panchami. On Brahma’s request, he gave life to Brahma’s creation with Veena. When he started playing Veena, the first syllable ‘Sa’ came out, which is the first of the seven notes of music. In this way the soundless universe gained sound. Brahma was pleased with this and named Saraswati Vageshwari. Due to the veena in his hand, he is also called Veenapani.
When will be the auspicious time?
The auspicious time of Basant Panchami Puja will last till the day from Brahma Muhurta on 14th February. The special auspicious time for worshiping Goddess Saraswati will be from 11.07 am to 12.53 am. In auspicious yoga, travel, house warming, starting new work, marriage etc. are auspicious.
