F-16 Fighter Jet: Amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, NATO members have announced that they have started sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. After the NATO summit in Washington, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday (July 10, 2024) that the first batch of US-made F-16 fighter planes is being sent to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands. He told that very soon F-16 is going to fly in the skies of Ukraine.
F-16 aircraft will fly in the skies of Ukraine
According to Reuters report, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Ukraine can effectively protect itself from Russian aggression this summer. Ukraine has been demanding F-16 fighter jets for a long time to respond to the attacks being carried out by Russia. US President Joe Biden had agreed and approved the delivery of these aircraft to Ukraine in August 2023.
‘Now NATO’s Ukraine sent F-16 aircraft’
The US Secretary of State challenged and said that this fighter jet being sent to Ukraine should be a strong message for Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said, “The Russian President’s attention has become focused on the fact that he will not be able to last much longer in the war with Ukraine.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week that he wants to double the capacity of his air force. Zelensky had said that he would need at least seven more radar systems for the security of his country.
NATO members will also send radar system
NATO members have also announced to send five radar systems to help Ukraine. In a statement issued by NATO members, it was said that we are committed to further increasing Ukraine’s air capabilities. At the summit organized on the occasion of NATO’s 75th anniversary, US President Joe Biden claimed that Russia is lagging behind in this war.
