You must have noticed that when you wash the bike or the bike is parked outside in the rain, water gets inside its fuel cap. To prevent this water from mixing with petrol inside the tank, the company provides a way to take it out. If there is excess water then it can go inside the fuel tank and mix with petrol. Riding the bike on fuel mixed with water can damage the engine.
There is an outlet system in the bike
To drain out the water, a water outlet system is provided in the fuel tank. For this, a small hole is made at the mouth of the tank. During rain, water accumulates around the fuel lid, which flows out of the tank through this hole. If this hole gets clogged then water can go inside the tank and mix with petrol.
Get this work done at the time of servicing
Whenever the bike is serviced, do not forget to clean the hole in the fuel tank lid. If water remains accumulated around the mouth of the tank after washing the bike, then understand that the hole is clogged and needs to be cleaned.
