In February 2025, Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKAS) welcomed the City University of Hong Kong (CITYUHK) Professor Jean SalenconA iconic scholar in Continum Mechanics and an HKIAS senior partner. During his journey, he gave an attractive Hkias reputed lectures, guiding the audience through the historical development of a theory that continues to shape modern engineering.

Beyond the lecture hall, Professor Salencon’s visit further strengthened academic cooperation. With Professor Zian LuDean of the College of Engineering, he visited CASM Nanostructured metals and ceramic laboratory. During his visit, he was involved in the discussion with the faculty members of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Professor Gianguo Dai, Professor Geokiao HE, Professor Hung Fi LamAnd Ir Dr. Fiona Quok From Hong Kong University. Additionally, he met with CITYUHK leadership, such as Vice President (Research) Professor Anderson Sham And HKIAS Executive Director Professor Shuk Han ChengPromote interdisciplinary research opportunities.
His visit also formed an alliance with the city of the Snake Chinese New Year Staff Party, where he enjoyed celebrations such as a lion dance, lucky draw and a taekwondo performance by the students.
