Mangaluru:
Police said that a prominent Congress worker and intuition leader, Chittaranjan Shetty on Tuesday retained injuries in an accidental firing incident in Anantadi village in South Kannada district.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Vitla police station.
According to the police, the firing came from Mr. Shetty’s own pistol, which he allegedly kept for personal protection. Sources show that the accident occurred due to improper locking of the weapon.
Mr. Shetty, who was injured in the incident, was taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru for immediate treatment. A senior police officer said that his condition remains in observation.
The Vitla police have registered a case and started investigating the circumstances around the incident, said that further investigation is going on.
