Drapped by the spiritual grandeur of the Maha Kumbh, a group of 68 Hindu devotees in Sindh province of Pakistan arrived at Prayagraj on Thursday and took a sacred dip at the confluence, praying for the peace of the souls of their ancestors.

Mahant Ramnath, who accompanied the group, said that he had visited Haridwar for the first time, where he submerged the ashes of about 480 ancestors and performed rituals before coming to Maha Kumbh.

Speaking at the Sri Guru Karshni camp in Sector 9, Gobind Ram Mkeja, a resident of Sindh, told PTI, “Ever since we had heard about Maha Kumbh in the last two or three months, we had a deep craving to travel. Could not stop themselves.

He said, “In the last April, 250 people from Pakistan visited and took a dip in the Ganges. Priyanka, a housewife from Sindh, echoed similar feelings. He said, “This is my first time in India and in Maha Kumbh. It is a divine experience to see our culture here. Some members of our group have brought six urns with ashes, which they will drown in Haridwar.” Looking forward, Chawla said, “This evening, we will visit the saints with Akars and find the Grand Fair.”
