When is Guru Pradosh Vrat?
According to the Panchang, the Trayodashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadha month will start on July 18 at 8:44 PM and will end on the next day i.e. July 19, 2024 at 08:44 PM. Therefore, keeping in mind the auspicious time of Shiv Puja, Pradosh Vrat will be observed on 18th July only.

Method of worship:
Wake up early in the morning on the day of Pradosh fast. Wear clean clothes after bathing. Clean the temple. After this, offer fruits, flowers and Nevaidya on the idol of Lord Shiva. Light a ghee lamp in front of Lord Shiva. Perform Jalabhishek on Shivalinga. After this, in the evening, light a lamp near Shivling in the home temple. Fill water in a pot on Shivling and offer Belpatra, Bhang and Aak flowers. After this listen to the story of Pradosh Vrat. Chant the seed mantra of Lord Shiva ‘Om Namah Shivay’. In the end, perform the Aarti of all the Gods and Goddesses along with Shiva and Gauri and at the end ask for forgiveness for the mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly during the puja.
Rules of Pradosh Vrat:
On this day, the fasting person should not use abusive words.
Tamasic food should not be consumed during Pradosh fast.
Consumption of rice and salt is prohibited during Pradosh Vrat.
Do not use vermillion, turmeric, basil and Ketaki flowers in worship on this day.
