The easiest way for water to enter a car is through the silencer. Water can also reach the car engine through the silencer. While driving a car in water, keep the accelerator slightly pulled.
New Delhi. Every city has the same story of waterlogging during the rainy season. Delhi has become Mumbai, people of every city have started shying away from taking cars on the road. Not only do you have to face traffic jams due to rain, but you may also have to suffer huge losses if the car gets stuck in water or if water gets into the car. Not only this, in many cases short circuit occurs due to water getting into the car and incidents of fire have also come to light. Therefore, you should take some safety measures while driving a car in the rain, especially on waterlogged roads.
Sandeep, a car mechanic working at Tata’s service center at Sagar Motors in Noida Sector 5, says that driving a car on waterlogged roads is always challenging. If there is too much water, there is a greater possibility of damage to the car. It would be better to avoid such a situation, but if you have to go, then 5 things should always be kept in mind.

The most important thing is to save the silencer
According to the mechanic, the easiest way for water to enter the car is through the silencer which is open. Through this, water can reach the engine and wiring of the car. To avoid this easy victim of water logging, if you drive the car with a little accelerator, the smoke coming out rapidly from the silencer will prevent water from getting into it. This is currently the most effective way to protect your silencer from water.
cross waterlogging without stopping
Try not to stop on waterlogged roads and cross the waterlogged road in one go. If you stop the car on waterlogged roads, the chances of it getting filled with water will increase. If it is not necessary, do not apply brakes on such roads and take the car out of the water at slow speed.
Get off the car only after turning off the AC
On waterlogged roads, take the car into the water only after switching it off. This will prevent water from entering the car through the AC vent and air vents. There will be no possibility of it getting damaged in water if the AC is switched off, but if you lower the AC in water while it is running, it may cause damage.
Pump the brakes as soon as you come out of the water.
As told to you, do not apply brakes while the car is in water, but once you come out of the water, pump your brakes immediately. This will remove the water filled in the brakes, because most of the cars in India have disc and drum brakes, in which incidents of water filling are very common.
Do not start the car again and again
If your car stops on a waterlogged road, do not try to start it again and again. It would be better to start your car only after bringing it out of the water. Starting the car repeatedly in water can cause water to fill in the engine and your car’s engine may even seize.
