The White House on Tuesday upheld a wide freeze abroad without giving evidence to return the claim, citing the $ 50 million condom distribution program in the Gaza strip.
White House press secretary Karolin Lewitt said the expenses were discovered in the first week of Trump, which included the new efficiency of the government under the leadership of Tech billionaire Elon Musk.
Musk’s initiative and the budget office “found that there was a 50 million taxpayer dollar going out of the door to fund condoms in Gaza,” Levit told in his debut press conference.
“This is an anterior waste of the taxpayer’s money,” he said.
He did not provide more details and verifying the account independently was not possible immediately.
Condoms are usually less than a dollar in the United States and very low in wholesale. Gaza has just more than two million people, out of which almost all have been damaged in 15 months of war with Israel.
Lewitt also said that the United States was about to distribute $ 37 million to the World Health Organization, before Trump announced a pullout from the United Nations body.
After assuming office, Trump ordered a 90-day freeze in foreign aid.
They have made a review to ensure that the aid is in line with the policies of their administration, which oppose abortion, transgender rights and diversity programs.
In a memo on Friday, the state’s Marco Rubio said that the United States was freezing almost all assistance to Egypt and Israel except for emergency food and military assistance.
United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres expressed concern about the aid freeze by the United States, which has long been in terms of full dollars for the development aid of the world’s largest provider.
