Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and two retired officers on the complaint of a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA. Giving information about the high-profile case, the official said that apart from former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, the police have arrested senior IPS officers PV Sunil Kumar and PSR Sitharamanajaneyulu as well as retired police officer R Vijay Paul and former superintendent of Guntur Government Hospital G. A case has been registered against Prabhavati. The official said that Raju had sent a complaint to the police through e-mail a month ago and after taking legal advice, a case was registered against the former Chief Minister and others at 7 pm on Thursday. The police officer said Raju also alleged that he was tortured in custody.

Raju said in his complaint that senior IPS officers Sunil Kumar and Sitharamanjanayulu, police officer Vijay Paul and government doctor G. Prabhavati was part of that conspiracy. He was arrested in May 2021 during the second wave of Covid-19. Raju said in the complaint, ‘Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID) of Andhra Pradesh government registered a false case against me. I was arrested without any due process on 14 May 2021, threatened, illegally dragged inside a police vehicle and forcibly taken to Guntur the same night.

Case registered under these serious sections
Police have registered a case against the five accused under sections 120 B, 166, 167, 197, 307, 326, 465 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code along with section 34 at Nagarampalam police station in Guntur. Since the case is three years old, the police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code. A complaint was filed by TDP leader Raju against Reddy and some officials on June 11, 2021, after which their arrest took place. He alleged that the former Chief Minister and senior officials hatched a criminal conspiracy against him.
