Here’s a look at all the updates:

higher pension clarification

EPFO has issued guidelines to clarify the pension process for high wage earners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS).

Major changes include:

  • Clear pension calculation in different categories.
  • Strict adherence to trust rules for exempted establishments.
  • Segregation of arrears and pension arrears to avoid overlap.

Simplified Joint Declaration Process

EPFO has updated the process for joint declarations, making it easier for members to update their information.

Online submission is now mandatory for members with Aadhaar-verified Universal Account Numbers (UAN) generated after October 1, 2017.

For other members, joint declarations must be physically submitted.

Documents can be uploaded to DigiLocker or as PDF.

Centralized Pension Payment System

From January 1, 2025, CPPS has eliminated the need to transfer Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) due to bank or branch jurisdiction issues.

Members can use the same bank account linked to their UAN-KYC for pension claims, reducing errors.

Aadhaar linkage is mandatory for new PPOs to ensure smooth processing of Digital Life Certificate.

Profile updates made easy

Members with Aadhaar-verified UAN can update personal details, such as name, date of birth and marital status, without submitting supporting documents.

If UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, employer certification is required.

easy pf transfers

EPFO has simplified the process for transferring Provident Fund (PF) accounts. Members no longer need to include their past or present employer for certain transfers.

Depending on the status, transfer between member IDs linked with the same UAN or Aadhaar now becomes easier.
