Hyderabad (Telangana):
Ravi Teja, an Indian student from Hyderabad, was shot dead in New Haven, Connecticut. He went to America to do his Masters in Science.
Upender Reddy, a family friend of the deceased family, told ANI on Monday that due to such incidents, Indian students are afraid of going to the US and have requested the authorities to repatriate their mortal remains.
“A student named Ravi Teja had gone to America from Hyderabad to pursue MS. He was shot dead this morning. His family has just come to know about this. We appeal to the Central Government and Telangana Government to bring back his body. We request you to take necessary steps for this.” We also request the Central Government to ensure that our students do not have to face such incidents in future, due to which they are afraid of going abroad. Along with trade tie-ups, governments should also focus on the safety of our students who go there,” Mr Reddy told ANI.
The Indian Consulate in New York expressed condolences on Teja’s death and said that they are providing all possible help and are in touch with the family of the deceased.

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday highlighted the need to provide better education facilities and opportunities to students, so that they are not forced to go abroad.
This news is very sad. In the last few months, many such cases have come to light where the youth of our country were murdered abroad. This is a very manly thing.
Due to disorganized education system and lack of opportunities, our children are being forced to go abroad.
If we educate our youth in India… https://t.co/c8X1gxrMHS
