From trade, transportation to technology, 9 agreements signed, special chemistry seen between PM Modi-Putin


moscow, A special chemistry was seen in the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the presence of both, 9 important agreements were signed between India and Russia. This includes everything from free trade to doing business in rupees. In the information given by the Indian Foreign Ministry, it was said that the economic agenda was the main focus. Defense and security was also an important point of discussion. Connectivity corridor was also discussed, Chennai – Vladivostsk corridor was also discussed between the two leaders.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that the Prime Minister’s focus during the talks was on the supply of energy and fertilizers. The summit between Prime Minister Modi and Putin lasted for 2 hours. In this, both the leaders have set a target of 100 billion dollar business by 2030. PM Modi raised the issue of Indians recruited in the Russian army, on which Russia was assured of quick action. The Russian Ambassador also later said, we know that this is a matter of concern for the Indian side. We are very open in dialogue on this particular issue. We are very attentive to Indian concerns and, of course, we do not want to see Indians dying on the battlefield. We have never and do not recruit Indians into the Russian Army. This particular problem is related to those agencies, middlemen and shady people who mislead Indian citizens in the first place. The Foreign Secretary said, there is no accurate information about the number of Indians in the Russian Army. But from the figures that have come out, it seems that there were 30 to 35 people, out of which 10 have returned to India.

Ukraine conflict cannot be resolved on the battlefield
Earlier, while giving a clear message, Prime Minister Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin that resolution of the Ukraine conflict is not possible on the battlefield and peace talks do not succeed between bombs, guns and bullets. The death of innocent children is heart-wrenching and very painful, Modi said, apparently referring to the bomb attack on a children’s hospital in Ukraine. Modi said, be it war, conflict or terrorist attacks, if people lose their lives then every person who believes in humanity feels sad. Even if innocent children are killed, when we see innocent children dying, it is heart-breaking and very painful.

These agreements were signed

  1. Hope was expressed to eliminate non-tariff trade barriers related to bilateral trade between India and Russia.
  2. It was agreed to develop a bilateral settlement system using the national currencies of both the countries.
  3. Both countries agreed on North-South International Transport Corridor, Northern Sea Route and Chennai-Vladivostok Sea Line.
  4. The increase in bilateral trade volume in food and fertilizers was approved in the presence of both the leaders.
  5. It was agreed to increase cooperation in many areas of energy including nuclear energy, oil refining and petrochemicals.
  6. Will work together in infrastructure development, transportation engineering, automobile production and shipbuilding, space
  7. Digital economy, science and research, educational exchanges and internships for employees of high-tech companies
  8. Agreed to promote systematic cooperation in development and supply of medicines and advanced medical devices
  9. Education, science and technology, culture, tourism, sports, health care are also important agreements between the two countries.
