G7 warns Russia of new sanctions if a ceasefire does not agree

The G7 nations on Friday emphasized the need for “security arrangements” to ensure a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, according to a final draft statement, warned Moscow to follow the ceasefire or face further sanctions.

The G7 nations involved in the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States said, “The members of the G7 called Russia to agree to a ceasefire on equal terms and implement it completely.”

G7 officials said that a draft approved by senior diplomats, still needs green lights from ministers.

He said, “He emphasized that any ceasefire should be respected and the need for strong and reliable security arrangements to ensure that Ukraine can stop and defend against any renewed acts of aggression,” he said.
