Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said the state is facing problems of illegal infiltration from Myanmar in its eastern part, adding that alert has to be maintained in the western and southern areas of the state to prevent illegal entry of people. Used to be. Neighboring country.
The Chief Minister said that Manipur has an inter-state border (204 km) with Assam. He said that along with Tripura, Assam is also facing the problem of infiltration from Bangladesh.
“If Assam cannot detect illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh, these migrants may enter Manipur,” Biren Singh told reporters.
Assam and Tripura share 263 km and 856 km long borders with Bangladesh respectively. Most parts of the international borders of the two states are fenced, but some areas are still unfenced.
The Chief Minister said that apart from the security forces, the local people will also have to remain alert regarding illegal infiltration from across the border.
Giving a strong warning against people spreading misinformation, he said that appropriate strict action will be taken as per law against those spreading hate speech, false and fabricated information and narratives through social media.
Biren Singh said, “No one has the right to harass the society, individuals and any family by spreading hate speech, false and imaginary information through social media.” He said that the government will not stop anyone on social media. Will also not tolerate irresponsible statements and views.
