A principal in Tamil Nadu has been suspended in Tamil Nadu after the pictures of the girl students cleaning the school toilets. The incident took place in Palakkodu village in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu.
The school, which teaches about 150 tribal students from classes 1 to 8, came under investigation when the pictures came out online, in which the girls wearing school dress were shown to be sweeping and cleaning the toilet. This led to protests outside the school as parents and local people expressed their anger and demanded an inquiry.
The parents of some students seen in the viral video filed a formal complaint in the School Education Department. He alleged that the headmaster was handing over children to clean the toilets, sweeping the premises and bringing water.
The people of the village came out on the streets to protest against the incident. Carrying placards in the hands and raising slogans, he demanded immediate action against the headmistress and argued that such tasks should never be imposed on students, especially young girls in an educational institution.
In view of the incident, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Dharmapuri district started an investigation. The District Education Officer (DEO) also confirmed the suspension of the headmistress and announced to conduct an inquiry.
